Early Voting underway in VZ County

According to the Van Zandt County Clerk’s office, a total of 956 cast their votes on the first day of Early Voting. If that average continues each day throughout the 12-day period of Early Voting, it would result in a total of 14,720 Early Votes cast which would be higher than the 2022 Early Voting total of 10,258 but lower than the 2020 Early Voting total of 17,151, which was the last year there was a Presidential election, according to numbers released by the Texas Secretary of State’s office.
The line was long on the first day of Early Voting Oct. 21 for the General Election at the Van Zandt County/Sarah Norman Library in Canton. A total of 956 votes were cast on the first day. Reports were that some people stood in line for as long as two hours waiting to cast their vote. Early voting continues through Friday, Nov. 1 at the library including Early Voting hours available on Saturday and Sunday as well. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5. Photo by Faith Caughron
