Early Voting for the Van Zandt County Republican Party and Democratic Party Runoff Elections scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, will begin Monday, May 18, according to the VZC Clerk’s office. There will be only one week of Early Voting which will take place from 7 a.m.

The City of Canton will host its annual Catfish Kid Fish on Saturday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Forney ISD Chief of Communications Kristin Zastoupil issued a press release May 4 regarding allegations of misconduct involving a Forney ISD teacher which read as follows: “While there is currently a multi-agency investigation underway, we have now been cleared to share the following information,” said Zastoupil.

The Annual National Day of Prayer ceremony in Van Zandt County will take place from 12:15-12:45 p.m. Thursday, May 7 (today), in the VZC Court at Law Courtroom in the VZC Courthouse in Canton. The public is invited to attend.
