The City of Canton is preparing to host its annual Fourth of July celebration with a full day of activities planned for residents and visitors alike on Friday, July 4. The day-long event includes a patriotic parade, fun contests, live music, a classic car show, and will end with a crowd-favorite fireworks display.

For the fifth consecutive year, the brother/sister duo of Grayson and Alice Weaver, Canton ISD students, will be collecting water, Gatorade, and individually wrapped snacks for local firefighters and First Responders.

Randall Newkirk told The Monitor that the boat lost power, was pushed around by the waves and capsized after a large wave pushed the boat over.
