Election filing set to open Jan. 18

Those who have an interest in serving on the Canton City Council or Canton ISD Board of Trustees will soon have the opportunity, as the general election scheduled for May 6 quickly approaches. Election filing for both the city and school boards are slated to begin on Jan. 18 and run until Feb. 17.

Hope Center hosting community open house

Hope Center, a pro-life, non-profit is hosting a community open house in honor of Sanctity of Human Life. The event will be at Hope’s facility on Sunday, Jan. 22 from 1-4 p.m. at 885 East State Highway 243 in Canton. Sanctity of Human Life is about celebrating every human life. For Hope Center this event is an opportunity to celebrate the babies and moms and dads who have been helped through Hope’s programs and services.

Library seeks new volunteers

It’s January and 2023 is here!! It’s time to start thinking about all things new and a spirit of renewal. The library ladies are looking forward to the new year. We hope for new and exciting things for the library. We did get some cleaning and rearranging done while we were closed on our Christmas break. Come in and see what changes we made.

Building renamed in Colacino’s honor

Through a proclamation unanimously approved by the Van Zandt County Commissioners Court during a special called meeting Dec. 22, the VZC Juvenile Justice Center in Grand Saline has been renamed.
