The Van Zandt County Library hosted guest speaker Kathy Deerr on Thursday Sept. 15 for a presentation on her Family Place Libraries program, which the Van Zandt County Library was inducted into following the presentation.

In a recorded unanimous vote, the Van Zandt County Commissioners Court approved the 2022 tax rate as well as the fiscal year 2023 budget during its regular meeting Sept. 14.

Radiant Church in Canton, located at 19830 Interstate 20, has announced that it will be hosting Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University beginning Sept. 21 at 6:30 p.m.

The Van Zandt County Republican Club and the Van Zandt County Republican Women’s Club hosted a unity rally for Texas Senate District 2 Republicans. Party members from Van Zandt, Kaufman, Rockwall, Dallas, and Henderson counties were represented at the Farm Bureau in Canton on Monday evening Sept. 1.

Van Zandt County Sarah Norman Library Storytime started back up Sept. 9. Organizers noted, “We were excited to see some new faces and welcomed back old friends. Van Zandt County Sheriff Joe Carter recently released information involving a murder/ suicide that occurred Labor Day (Sept. 5) in the Whitton Community.
