The current vacancy in Van Zandt County Pct. 2 on the VZC Commissioners Court moved one step closer to being filled Aug. 8 when the VZC Republican Party Executive Committee announced that Cliff Williams will have his name submitted to be placed on the Nov. 5 General Election ballot for VZC Pct. 2 Commissioner.

Suspects arrested for money laundering remain in custody

At the Canton Texas Chamber of Commerce Quarterly Luncheon Aug. 6 at the Silver Spur Resort in Canton, Jordan Bozeman from Yesterland Farm shared the inspiring story of how her parents, Chuck and Kama Bozeman transformed a humble Christmas tree farm into a thriving seasonal attraction.

A ‘Splash Day’ event sponsored by Canton Main Street was held across the street from Canton City Hall Aug. 10. The event drew a large number of kids which featured water slides, face painting, and carriage rides. Out of 470 products considered, the recognition highlights the innovative Honey Dust, a unique dried honey product designed to simplify the use of honey as a sweetener in various recipes.

Officers for the revived Canton Education Foundation will be as follows for 2024-25: Baylee Gilbert, President; Samantha Beckham, Vice-President of Development; Landon Spears, Vice-President of Finance; Jessica Harrell, Vice-President of Events and Marketing; and Blake Fowler, Secretary.
