ETX Senior Expo set for May 16 in Athens

The ETX Senior Expo and Resource Fair will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, May 16 at the First Methodist Church of Athens located at 225 Lovers Lane. The event is sponsored by Alinea Family Hospice Care of Athens.

The Van Zandt County Aggie Club held their Annual Aggie Muster at the Van Zandt County Country Club in Canton on April 21. Approximately 40 Texas A&M graduates, family members, and friends gathered for a meal, fellowship, a program, and to honor the memory of three formerA&M students who died during the past year.

National Day of Prayer to be observed May 2

The 73rd annual National Day of Prayer is scheduled for Thursday, May 2. The event will be held at the Van Zandt County Court at Law Courtroom inside the VZC Courthouse in Canton with the prayer service beginning at 12:15 p.m. and continuing until 12:45 p.m.

Supply of radios approved for Edgewood FD

Following a recommendation by Van Zandt County Pct. 3 Commissioner Keith Pearson, the VZC Commissioners Court approved supplying the Edgewood Fire Department with radios for the new VZC radio emergency system that is currently being installed.

Unless you are reading my column this week online from somewhere in the middle of the Sahara Desert, chances are pretty good that Ole’ Luke doesn’t need to tell you it’s been wet, plenty wet! I’ve tried very hard to get ‘out there’ several times this past week, between rainstorms. I watched the weather radar closely and when I saw a break between storms, I loaded my CVA Muzzleloader in the truck and headed to a nearby hotspot for wild hogs.
