The Upper Sabine Cattlemen’s Conference took place on Friday, May 2, at Gabriel’s Ranch in Grand Saline, drawing a diverse group of agricultural professionals eager to enhance their knowledge and practices.
While the weather outside was dark and gloomy, the atmosphere inside The Silver Spur Resort was bright and cheerful as a good crowd of 64 was on hand May 6 for the Canton Texas Chamber of Commerce Quarterly Luncheon.
The Canton Eaglettes have advanced to the Class 4A Regional Semifinals where they took on Aubrey in a best-of-three series that began May 13 at Nevada Community High School. Game 2 in the series will be played Thursday, May 15 (tonight) beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Revised by-laws for the Andrews Center were approved by the Van Zandt County Commissioners Court during its regular meeting May 7. The Andrews Center, which provides behavioral health services, serves five counties and has an office in Canton on State Highway 243.

The purpose of the workshop session was to discuss collaboration between the four precinct Road and Bridge departments to help with road repairs and cost savings, according to the agenda item.
Several Canton High School graduating seniors received scholarships May 8 during the Annual Canton Rotary Club Scholarship Luncheon at Craft 64. Canton Rotary Club President Elect Landon Spears welcomed those in attendance.
