Army’s 250th anniversary to be celebrated June 14 Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 12219 will co-sponsor with the Van Zandt County Veterans Memorial the Army’s 250th Anniversary. The anniversary will be celebrated at Memorial Plaza at the VZC Veterans Memorial on Saturday evening, June 14, at 1830 hours (6:30 p.m.).

Series of Town Hall Meetings scheduled for June in VZC Information on a series of Town Hall Meetings during the month of June in Van Zandt County has been released by VZC Judge Andy Reese and the VZC Commissioners Court. There will be one Town Hall Meeting in each precinct during the month, according to Reese and members of the commissioners’ court.

TxDOT project updates for the week of June 2

New VZC Veterans Service Officer introduced

Tommy Forgue was approved as the new Van Zandt County Veterans Service Officer May 21 by the VZC Commissioners Court during its regular meeting. Forgue, who will be succeeding Harry Fontenot on June 1, was introduced to the commissioners’ court and those in attendance by VZC Pct.

Town Hall meetings to be scheduled in June

Everett-Berry, Sumner sworn into office

The Canton City Council convened for its regular meeting on May 20 at Canton City Hall, marking a significant evening filled with important discussions and community recognition. Mayor Lou Ann Everett-Berry called the meeting to order declaring a quorum present and initiated the session with an invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) against the developers of a lithium battery storage facility being built south of Canton has been extended through Wednesday, June 4. Van Zandt County Criminal District Attorney Tonda Curry updated the VZC Commissioners Court during its regular meeting May 21.
