Eaglettes’ season ends in hard-fought playoff battle

The Canton Eaglettes’ season came to an end on Friday, February 14, after a tough matchup against the Class 4A seventh-ranked Sunnyvale Lady Raiders in Wills Point. The game started as a defensive battle, with Canton trailing by just one point after the first quarter, 7-6, however, Sunnyvale took control in the second quarter with a decisive 17-0 run that the Eaglettes couldn’t stop or counter.

Canton Eagle offensive lineman Dane Dial signed a National Letter of Intent Feb. 11 to play college football at Trinity Valley Community College in Athens. The signing ceremony was held at Canton High School.

The Canton Youth Recreation Association (CYRA) Board recently announced that they have received a donation from the City of Canton to be used for continued improvements at the CYRA Ballpark. The city will receive a permanent sign with logos on Field #6. Standing left to right were CYRA Board Members Joseph Henson and Dustin Davis, Canton Mayor Lou Ann Everett, and CYRA Board Member Nick Baker. “On behalf of the community, and CYRA, a big thanks to the City of Canton for helping our continuing efforts to make our dreams a reality with their Grand Slam sponsorship,” said Davis.

The CYRA(CantonYouth Recreation Association) has put in many hours over the last few years into improving the ballpark for our Canton area youth players. We started with making a few necessary improvements like taking down a few trees and the old score keeping buildings.
