Body On February 22 and 23, Texas Rose Horse Park, located on State Highway 110 between Van and Tyler, hosted a prestigious masterclass led by fivetime Olympian Ingrid Klimke, drawing equestrian enthusiasts from far and wide.

Body The Canton Eagles boys’ varsity track team captured first place March 8 at the Blue Bird Relays in Wills Point. Canton finished the track meet with 105 total points followed by the host school and Van Zandt County rival, Wills Point, with 101 points.

Body The Canton Eagles were well represented on the District 164A All-District Boys Basketball Team that was recently released. Named to the First-Team All-District squad were Canton seniors Kaden Smith and Mason Huson.

Body The opportunity to advance in the Class 3A state basketball playoffs did not happen for the Canton Eagles Feb. 25 as they lost their third-round game to Sanger, 44-36, in Farmersville ending Canton’s season with an 18-18 overall record.

Body The Canton Eagles advanced to the third round of the boys’ Class 4A state basketball playoffs with an exciting 43-40 victory over Sunnyvale in overtime Feb. 21 in Crandall.

Body Canton Eagle offensive lineman Dane Dial signed a National Letter of Intent Feb. 11 to play college football at Trinity Valley Community College in Athens. The signing ceremony was held at Canton High School.

Body Coach Justin Burk’s Canton Eagles will be heading to post-season play next week after an impressive district win on the road Feb. 7 breezing past the Brownsboro Bears, 58-39.

Body The Canton Youth Recreation Association (CYRA) Board recently announced that they have received a donation from the City of Canton to be used for continued improvements at the CYRA Ballpark. The city will receive a permanent sign with logos on Field #6.
