The Canton Lions Club Golf Tournament Fundraiser on April 28 was a resounding success, raising approximately $34,000 for scholarships and teacher grants. The Canton Paint & Body team, featuring Corley Ragle, Mike Whitus, Jason Shirey, and Nicholas Varela, took home the championship with a score of 54. Jordan Giles won the longest drive, while Collin Cole and Craig Goff excelled with closest-to-the-pin honors. With 35 teams participating, this year’s event marked the highest attendance since 2018. The Canton Lions Club would to express its appreciation heartfelt to all participants and the Canton Education Foundation for their support.

The annual Canton Lions Club/Canton ISD Education Foundation Golf Tournament was declared a success April 28 by tournament organizers as around 35 teams participated in the event. Around $25,000 was raised that will be split among the two local organizations. Plans for an even bigger and better tournament are already in the works for 2026.

Rickman takes gold at Regional track meet

Canton had a number of representatives competing in the Class 4A Regional Track and Field Meet April 18, 19 at East Texas A&M University in Commerce. Results for the Eagles and Eaglettes in the Regional Track and Field Meet were as follows: Girls’ 400-Meter Dash Kimber Holly, 12th place, 1:01.31.

Canton beats Mabank, Lindale to finish regular season

The Canton Eaglettes run-ruled the Mabank Lady Panthers before beating hosting Lindale April 18, 12-8, to finish the regular season in District 15-4A at 8-2, in second place behind unbeaten Van. The Eaglettes now move on to their Class 4A Bi-District playoff best-of-three series against Longview Spring Hill starting April 24 in Canton.
The Canton Eaglettes’ varsity softball team finished the regular season as the second-place team in District 15-4A. Cheer competition set to ignite youth football spirit in VZC

Excitement is being built as the 903 Youth Football and Cheer league prepares for its annual cheer competition, showcasing the talent and dedication of young athletes across the region. Founded by local towns including Brownsboro, Canton, Edgewood, Mineola, Quinlan, and Wills Point, this cooperative youth league has quickly gained traction and is eager to welcome a new member, Kemp, into the fold this season.
