For the first time this season, the Canton Eagles will find out how they will respond after a defeat as their undefeated record went down in stunning fashion Oct. 18 in a 21-17 overtime loss at home against their Van Zandt County rival, the Wills Point Tigers.

Eaglettes clinch state volleyball playoff berth

The Canton Eaglettes varsity volleyball team registered wins over Mabank and Van to improve their district mark to 8-2 and to secure a spot in the upcoming Class 4A volleyball state playoffs. Setter Mallory Alexander reached a season assist milestone with 1,000 assists for the Eaglettes.

Eagles open district play in Kemp Friday

Following some time off during their bye week, it’s back to work for the Canton Eagle varsity football team as they continue preparations for their District 6-4A, Division 2, opener in Kemp against the Kemp Yellowjackets in a 7 p.m. kickoff Friday, Oct. 11.
