Van Zandt County is saving local taxpayer dollars and protecting county employees on the job with the help of personal protective safety equipment and law enforcement equipment provided at no cost by the Texas Association of Counties Risk Management Pool (TAC RMP).

The Canton High School Class of 2022 will hold commencement ceremonies at 7:30 p.m., at Norris Birdwell Stadium on the football field. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved into the Larry David Auditorium.

The City of Canton along with the Texas Parks and Wildlife held Kid Fish Day on May 14. Children and their families had the opportunity to fish for catfish from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Two-Acre Pond. Free hotdogs were offered, and the day was packed with families trying their hand to catch one of the catfish stocked within the pond. Canton’s Kid Fish Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 14, on Two Acre Lake, located on Arnold Paul Road by the Canton Animal Shelter. Attendees are asked to bring their own tackle and gear this year, fishermen will be fishing for catfish. Hot dogs will be provided for those who attend. Fishing licenses are not needed for the event, as long as an adult has a child that they are helping fish.
