Man gets life in prison for motorcycle gang death

After a Smith County jury found a Henderson County man guilty Jan. 17 of a first-degree felony in relation to what the jury believed was giving orders that led to the 2020 shooting death of a motorcyclist near Tyler, the court then followed that conviction Jan. 21 by sentencing him to life in prison.

Bridge closures on FM 17 and FM 47 announced

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) announced that starting Friday, Jan. 17, the FM 17 bridge over Interstate 20 in Van Zandt County would close as crews begin tearing down the old bridge.

‘Ozi’ introduced as the newest addition to police department

Canton Police Department K-9 Officer Chad Mattingly is making headlines with his new partner, a Belgian Malinois named ‘Ozi.’ Mattingly, who has dedicated over 14 years to law enforcement, shared insights into his journey and the vital role that K-9’s play in modern policing. Mattingly began his career in law enforcement in 2010, starting out in a jail before attending the police academy.
‘Ozi’ recently became the newest addition to the Canton Police Department and is shown with his partner, Canton Police Department Officer Chad Mattingly. ‘Ozi’ is a Belgian Malinois that came from Poland.
