Body The City of Canton recognized Jerry Shamlin with a street named in his honor during a Street Sign Reveal ceremony March 11. Shamlin has worked for the city for more than 20 years as Director of Public Works and still works on the First Monday Grounds today.

Curry speaks during weekly Lions Club Luncheon

Body The Canton Lions Club held its regular weekly luncheon meeting on March 12 at Craft 64 in Canton. The event featured prominent speakers and discussions on community projects, upcoming events, and pressing local issues.

Stolen vehicle report leads to arrest of wanted felon

Body A wanted felon was stopped by Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Department patrol deputies resulting in additional charges being filed, according to VZC Sheriff’s Department Captain Pete O’Reilly. Deputy Juan Cortez took a stolen vehicle report on March 10.

Body Joe Zoubi, the visionary proprietor of Dukes Plaza and Craft 64 Sports Bar located on State Highway 64 at the intersection of Interstate 20 in Canton is embarking on an exciting new venture that promises to reshape the local community.
