SHOOTING DEER…WITH A CAMERA

I got up early, a good hour before the rest of my family who was still comfortable snoozing away in our little ‘hunting cabins.’ My plan was to head out to a nearby wooded hillside covered in oaks in hopes of using my rattling horns (antlers) to entice a big buck within shooting range.

Exciting developments are underway at First Baptist Church (FBC), Canton as the church looks forward to a new building dedicated to enhancing its Student Ministry. With a history of leading many individuals to Jesus and nurturing their spiritual growth, FBC Canton is addressing pressing space issues that have arisen due to its growing congregation.

BRIDGE REPLACEMENT UPDATE

Phase 3 of the FM 859/Interstate 20 bridge replacement project was recently released by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The newly constructed bridge is scheduled to open Nov. 7 but there will be closures for reconstruction from the Canton Village Apartments to the 1-20 frontage road.

The annual Canton Main Street Trick or Treating downtown on the square drew a large crowd of children and adults Oct. 31 as downtown businesses stayed open late to hand out candy to the trick-or-treaters. Several organizations set up tables around the square to hand out information and to answer questions from the public on a nearly perfect weather night for Halloween.
