Body The Canton High School girls golf team competed in the Wildcat invitational at Sulphur Springs Country Club Oct. 17 and finished first overall with a team score of 350. Teams they beat included Sulphur Springs, Paris, Longview and Texas High.

Body Over the past week, communities across the county have been doing their part to pay homage to the Brey family, who are dealing with the tragic loss of their son, Wyatt, and serious injuries to their daughter, Alexis, following an accident this past week.

Vandals blank Canton in rivalry game, 45-0

Body Two Van Zandt County football rivals returned to the scene Sept. 30 of their memorable classic contest from a year ago as the Van Vandals visited Norris Birdwell Stadium to take on the Canton Eagles.

Runners compete out of state

Body Varsity members of the Canton cross country program hit the road last week, traveling across state lines to compete at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival on the University of Arkansas Cross Country Course.

Eaglettes soar to 8th in latest state rankings

Body The Canton Eaglettes continued to stake their claim as one of the top 4A programs in the state last week, tallying two wins over state-ranked opponents to wrap up round one of District 16-4A play with a perfect 6-0 record.
The Canton volleyball program continued building on what has become a season to remember over the past week with Maddie Wilson being recognized for posting her 1,000th career dig, Georgia Crayton being recognized for posting her 1,000th career assist, the team posting back-to-back wins over state-ranked programs, and the program climbing up to 8th overall in the most recent TGCA 4A Weekly Volleyball Rankings. Golfers compete at Veterans Memorial Tourney

Body The Van Zandt County Veterans Memorial hosted its largest fundraising event of the year Sept. 13, welcoming golfers from across the area to Van Zandt Country Club for the 9th annual VZ Veterans Memorial Golf Tournament.
