Canton host annual cross country meet

Runners representing more than 20 area school districts made their way to Canton Sept. 24 to compete in this year's Running Eagles Invitational. In addition to Canton, other competing teams with local ties at the annual event included Edgewood, Martins Mill, Van and Wills Point.

The Canton Eaglettes continued their march through District 15-4A play last week, tangling with longtime rivals Van at home before clashing with Kemp on the road.

Running Eagles compete at Hallsville Invitational

The Running Eagles ran at the Hallsville Invitational on Friday, September 18. Peyton Chandler led the Varsity boys finishing 3rd overall out of 196 runners with a time of 17:38. Daniel Zarate finished 47th in 20:23 and Rayce High 118th in 22:13.

Running Eagles compete at Wills Point Invitational

The Running Eagles competed at the Wills Point Invitational on Thursday, September 10. Peyton Chandler led the varsity boys finishing 4th overall with a time of 16:54 on the three mile course. Daniel Zarate was 11th in a time of 17:46.

Eaglettes sweep Lady Panthers

The Canton Eaglettes and Mabank Lady Panthers squared off on the court in Mabank on Friday, September 11th for an afternoon district matchup as Canton played their second district match while Mabank began their district slate.

Eagles outpace Foxes in thriller

The Canton Eagles had their hands full Sept. 11, tangling with Caddo Mills in a battle of teams with identical 2-0 records. Canton would prevail in an absolute thriller, weathering several big performances from Caddo Mills' players to score a 48-40 win.

TAWAKONI HYBRIDS ON EARLY MORNING BITE

I remember well the first time I fished with guide Tony Parker. It was a cold winter’s day back in the early nineties at Lake Tawakoni. Tony was just getting established as a fishing guide and back then he did a good bit of largemouth bass fishing.
