Love and Grace Family Resource Ministry in Canton continues to emphasize that their main goal is to do all they can to try to eliminate hunger in Van Zandt County. Dwayne Clements, the director of the organization, was the guest speaker March 18 during the weekly Canton Lions Club Luncheon at the Van Zandt Country Club.

Canton Texas Chamber of Commerce presented “The Heart of Canton” Feb. 26 at First Baptist Church, where the community gathered for a heartwarming breakfast to honor local nonprofits. Nonprofits featured included Canton Lions Club, LightGuard Response, The Belief Center, ABC Room, Van Zandt County Veterans Memorial, Hope Center, Edgewood Historical Society, East Texas Crisis Center, Auxiliary to Canton VFW Post 12219, Bridging the Gap, The Next Generation Foundation an d Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 12219.

The National Society Daughters of the Americal Revolution (NSDAR), Neches River Chapter, celebrated the American Revolution and the upcoming 250th birthday of the nation on Feb. 23 with a visit to The American Revolution Experience exhibit in Mabank.

Canton Area Radio Emergency Services (CARES) is a Van Zandt County 501c3 non-profit organization. It was founded in 2018 and serves all Van Zandt County and surrounding counties.

Van Zandt County Sheriff Kevin Bridger was the guest speaker Feb. 18 during the weekly Canton Lions Club Luncheon at the Van Zandt Country Club.

On Feb. 11, the Canton Lions Club was honored to hear about the Texas Workforce Commission- Vocational Rehabilitation Services from three individuals who were passionate about their programs: Jordan Locke, MS, CRC, Community Outreach and Awareness Specialist; Rhonda Moore, LPC, transition counselor; and Jacki Everhart-Thompson, Business Relations Coordinator.

Representatives from the ABC Room of Van Zandt County were in attendance Jan. 28 to speak about the work that their organization has been doing recently.

Medical Missionary and Founder of Free Burma Rangers Dr. Bruce Woodall was the guest speaker Jan.

On Jan. 14, the Canton Lions Club was honored to hear about The Texas Star Quilters Guild of Canton from President Sheri Curran and Treasurer Nancy Szabo.

The speaker for our first Van Zandt County Genealogy Society meeting for 2026 is J. Mark Lowe.
