Local organization working to eliminate hunger in VZC

Love and Grace Family Resource Ministry in Canton continues to emphasize that their main goal is to do all they can to try to eliminate hunger in Van Zandt County. Dwayne Clements, the director of the organization, was the guest speaker March 18 during the weekly Canton Lions Club Luncheon at the Van Zandt Country Club.

Canton Texas Chamber of Commerce presented “The Heart of Canton” Feb. 26 at First Baptist Church, where the community gathered for a heartwarming breakfast to honor local nonprofits. Nonprofits featured included Canton Lions Club, LightGuard Response, The Belief Center, ABC Room, Van Zandt County Veterans Memorial, Hope Center, Edgewood Historical Society, East Texas Crisis Center, Auxiliary to Canton VFW Post 12219, Bridging the Gap, The Next Generation Foundation an d Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 12219.

DAR begins 250th anniversary celebration in style

The National Society Daughters of the Americal Revolution (NSDAR), Neches River Chapter, celebrated the American Revolution and the upcoming 250th birthday of the nation on Feb. 23 with a visit to The American Revolution Experience exhibit in Mabank.

Texas Workforce Commission representatives speak at meeting

On Feb. 11, the Canton Lions Club was honored to hear about the Texas Workforce Commission- Vocational Rehabilitation Services from three individuals who were passionate about their programs: Jordan Locke, MS, CRC, Community Outreach and Awareness Specialist; Rhonda Moore, LPC, transition counselor; and Jacki Everhart-Thompson, Business Relations Coordinator.
