Chemistry Road Show coming July 1

The Van Zandt County/Sarah Norman Library and the VZC Farm Bureau will be presenting the Texas A&M Chemistry Road Show at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 1 at the VZC Farm Bureau building located at 220 Burnett Trail in Canton.

SPCA granted custody of animals removed from property

According to the SPCA of Texas, following an incomplete request for appeal at a civil custody hearing Wednesday, June 11, in the Van Zandt County Courthouse, VZC Court at Law Judge Joshua Wintters defaulted to the previous judgement, awarding custody of 66 allegedly cruelly treated animals removed from a metal building owned by Hayley Hull in Van Zandt County. The SPCA of Texas also was awarded $22,090.75 in restitution.

Army’s 250th anniversary celebrated at Veterans Memorial

Around 45 citizens, including approximately 20 Veterans, were in attendance June 14 at the Van Zandt County Veterans Memorial in Canton to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States Army. Dan Curtis, Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 12219 in Canton, and a member of the VZC Veterans Memorial Board of Directors, welcomed those in attendance.

Nichols gives Canton Lions Club construction update

On June 4, The Bunker at the Van Zandt Country Club was alive with the sounds of laughter, music, and camaraderie as the Canton Lion Club held its much-anticipated weekly luncheon. The event marked the fourth gathering of the club, bringing together members and guests for an evening filled with patriotic spirit and community engagement. The meeting commenced with a heartfelt invocation that expressed gratitude for the gathering and offered prayers for the country and the health of club members in need.
