I was well into my 20s when I first began fishing for white bass (sand bass) as they are called in North Texas. Sand bass flourish in lakes with feeder streams and each spring make spawning runs in the creeks or rivers.

VZC residents reach out to congressional lawmakers

Conversations about the farm bill, agricultural labor and disaster assistance echoed through the halls and offices on Capitol Hill recently as more than 200 Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) members, including five from Van Zandt County, met with members of the U.S. Congress to talk about issues important to agriculture.

TFB members save on Beef Cattle Short Course registration

Registration is underway for the 70th annual Texas A&M Beef Cattle Short Course in College Station, and once again, Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) members will receive a discount on registration. “This is a Farm Bureau member benefit that can be used to help Van Zandt County Farm Bureau members learn more about beef cattle management,” Clayton Conway, VZC Farm Bureau President, said.
