WRONG-WAY DRIVER

Body
Local first responders were very busy early Sunday morning, as at approximately 2 a.m., authorities would respond to a multi-vehicle accident between two 18-wheelers on I-20 Eastbound. Reports at the scene described that one of the truck drivers had entered the 533 exit ramp, following filling up on fuel at a nearby truck stop. The driver, upon realizing his mistake, would proceed to attempt to turn around, but would find his trailer stuck in the median, where he was then struck by an 18-wheeler traveling east. The accident resulted in the driver of the eastbound truck being pinned inside his vehicle. First responders worked into the morning hours to free the individual, who remained alert, yet seriously injured throughout the process. After the driver was extracted from his vehicle, he was transported by Flight for Life to a local hospital. The driver of the truck that was stuck in the median did not report any injuries at the scene of the accident.
