Summer Reading Schedule released for 2026

It will be another busy summer coming up at the Van Zandt County/Sarah Norman Library in Canton June 3 through July 17 as the 2026 Summer Schedule was recently released. The theme of this year’s Summer Reading Schedule will be ‘Unearth a Story.’ There will be a Summer Reading Kickoff Party scheduled from noon to 4 p.m.

Debra Johnson and Suzanne Bass discussed a new youth scavenger hunt program known as ‘History Detectives of Van Zandt County’ that began recently and is sponsored by the organization.

Resolution tabled by VZC Commissioners Court

A resolution approving the formation of and participation in a Sub-Regional Planning Commission with Smith County pursuant to Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 391, was tabled by the Van Zandt County Commissioners Court May 20 during its regular meeting.
Grand Saline resident Steve Horowhitz discussed an agenda item during the regular meeting of the Van Zandt County Commissioners Court May 20. The agenda item involved authorizing the redacted commissioners’ court agenda binder to be published online two days prior to the commissioners’ court meeting.
