Correspondent The 25th Annual Canton Main Street Autumn Festival will bring fall festivities, live entertainment and local vendors to the historic downtown Canton Square Oct. 10.

The Van Zandt County Commissioners Court put the finishing touches on a process that has included 14 workshop sessions, a public hearing and other discussions during regularly scheduled weekly sessions on Wednesday morning by adopting a tax rate and budget for the 2026-'27 fiscal year.

The Van Zandt County Commissioners Court held its final regularly scheduled meeting for the month of September last week to discuss and take action on multiple items that had been discussed in previous sessions.

David Broussard is an artist and sculptor out of Canton and his most recent project is closer to becoming a reality. Broussard, who owns Jeweled Steel by Broussard, uses carbon steel and a blow torch to create beautiful crosses, jewelry and sculptures and has for the last 26 years.
