There were 37Aggies and 23 guests in attendance.Aggie Muster is an event held annually to remember and honor the Aggies that have passed away during the previous year.

Update presented on Golf Tournament set for April 27

Plans are being finalized for the Annual Canton Lions Club Golf Tournament scheduled for Monday, April 27, at the Van Zandt Country Club. “Right now, we have 32 teams signed up and we have spots remaining for four more teams,” said a Canton Lions Club member who presented an update during the weekly Canton Lions Club Luncheon April 15.
A ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ was presented to ‘Sleep in Heavenly Peace’ East Texas Co-President Kari Gerner April 15 following her presentation at the weekly Canton Lions Club Luncheon. The Van Zandt County District Attorney’s Office has been awarded $53,000.00 in grant funding through the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) program, a significant step forward in strengthening services for crime victims across the county.

Carter BloodCare to host blood drive May 4

There will be a community blood drive from 12:306 p.m. Monday, May 4, at Walmart, located at 603 East State Highway 243 in Canton. “Look cool by the pool, but don’t bake by the lake, with a brand new beach towel from Carter BloodCare,” said a Carter BloodCare spokesperson. “The popular ‘thank you’ gift is available to everyone who gives blood with Carter BloodCare in May. Support the community and sign up to donate at the Carter BloodCare blood drive hosted by the Canton community.”

This week, let’s discuss a subject that directly affects all of us sooner or later, how to continue to enjoy our outdoor endeavors as we grow older. In my mid-70s, I feel qualified to share some experiences that might be beneficial to some of those who are a bit long in the tooth.

Eaglettes facing Carthage in softball playoffs

The Canton Eaglettes varsity softball team will begin post-season play April 23 (today) against Carthage in the opener of a best-of-three Class 4A Bi-District playoff series with all three games being played at Tyler Legacy. Game 1 is scheduled for Thursday (today) at 5 p.m. Game 2 will take place at 8 p.m. Friday, April 24.
