With an overall 5-0 record heading into the start of their District 6-4A, Division 2 season Friday, Oct. 11 at Kemp, the Canton Eagles are proving statistically why they are undefeated at the halfway point of the regular season.

The Running Eagles ran at the Lindale Invitational on Thursday, Oct. 3. The varsity boys’ team finished fourth overall out of 31 teams with 244 runners competing. Kevin Velazquez led the way finishing fourth in a time of 17:06 followed by Noah Zarate in eighth place with a time of 17:16.

The Canton Eaglette varsity volleyball team finished the first round of district with a win against Athens Oct. 4.

Non-district ended on a successful note Sept. 27 on Homecoming night at Norris Birdwell Stadium for the Canton Eagles as they head into their bye week after shutting down the Rusk Eagles, 21-3, to improve their season record to 5-0, Canton’s best start since 2016.

The Canton Eaglettes lost district matches against Van Sept. 24 and Lindale Sept.

The Running Eagles ran at the Ken Gaston Invitational in Grand Prairie on Friday, Sept. 27.

With an impressive defensive effort and a dominating running attack on offense, the Canton Eagles had few issues with the Mabank Panthers Sept. 20 as they spoiled the Panther’s Homecoming night with a 21-0 shutout victory to improve their undefeated season record to 4-0.

The Canton Running Eagles traveled south last week to compete at the McNeil Invitational held at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock. The varsity boys team finished 15th overall out of 43 teams and 339 runners.

The Canton Eaglettes won both district matches last week as they are now undefeated in district play at 3-0 with no sets dropped. Both of Canton’s junior varsity teams are currently 2-1 in district play.

Trailing by four points at halftime, the Canton Eagles stormed back in the second half on Friday the 13th as they overtook the Paris North Lamar Panthers, 26-16, at Norris Birdwell Stadium. Canton is now 3-0 overall for the first time since the 2016 campaign as they will take their undefeated record on the road for a 7:30 p.m.
