Texas Sales Tax Holiday set for Aug. 9-11

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar is reminding shoppers they can save money on clothes and school supplies during the state’s sales tax holiday on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 9-11. This will be the 25th year of Texas’ oldest sales tax holiday.

Pet Project II co-hosting ‘Shop for Paws’ event

Two arrested after high-speed chase in VZC

A stolen white camaro struck a tree at the conclusion of a high-speed chase that occurred in Van Zandt County July 18. The vehicle struck the tree at 110 VZCR 3442. Three suspects fled from the vehicle. The two passengers were arrested but the driver of the vehicle remains at large, according to VZC Pct. 3 Constable Jeff Caughron. Courtesy photo

TCEQ to hold public meeting July 25

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) will be holding a public meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 25 in the Van Zandt County Farm Bureau Event Center located at 220 Burnett Trail in Canton.

To close out their 2024 Summer Reading Program, the Van Zandt County/Sarah Norman Library in Canton hosted a ‘Splash Extravaganza’ for the kids July 19 featuring water slides, bounce houses, and snow cones. A good turnout was on hand to celebrate another successful Summer Reading Program at the library.
