Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar is reminding shoppers they can save money on clothes and school supplies during the state’s sales tax holiday on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 9-11. This will be the 25th year of Texas’ oldest sales tax holiday.

Van Zandt County Pet Project II and the Texas Humane Legislation Network (THLN) have joined forces to host a ‘Shop for Paws’ event scheduled for Friday, Aug. 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Pink Pistol, located at 55 Miranda Lambert Way (one block off of Main Street on the corner of North Street and Miranda Lamber Way) in Lindale.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) will be holding a public meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 25 in the Van Zandt County Farm Bureau Event Center located at 220 Burnett Trail in Canton.

To close out their 2024 Summer Reading Program, the Van Zandt County/Sarah Norman Library in Canton hosted a ‘Splash Extravaganza’ for the kids July 19 featuring water slides, bounce houses, and snow cones. A good turnout was on hand to celebrate another successful Summer Reading Program at the library.
