The City of Van will be hosting its eighth annual Independence Day Celebration known as Freedom Boom from 6-10 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at McMillan Park located at 712 East Main Street.

Registration is underway for the 70th annual Texas A&M Beef Cattle Short Course in College Station, and once again, Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) members will receive a discount on registration. “This is a Farm Bureau member benefit that can be used to help Van Zandt County Farm Bureau members learn more about beef cattle management,” Clayton Conway, VZC Farm Bureau President, said.

Brookshire Grocery Co. (BGC) is accepting applications from military veterans to fill 25 spots on its trip to Washington, D.C. Oct. 21-23 for the 20th Brookshire’s and Super 1 Foods ‘Heroes Flight’ program.
