Tailwind Balloon Festival set for July 7-8

Body Around 30 balloonists are set to take flight Friday, July 7 and Saturday, July 8 for the annual Tailwind Regional Balloon Festival on the west side of the First Monday grounds located off FM 859 in Canton.

Body Van Zandt County fire departments have had their hands full during recent summers, crisscrossing the area to contain out of control grass fires sparked by dragging chains from vehicles, discarded cigarette butts, equipment malfunctions and out of control burns.

Ben Wheeler woman killed in accident

Body An 82-year-old Ben Wheeler woman was killed as a result of a two-vehicle accident that took place during the early afternoon hours of June 29 along State Highway 64 approximately 12 miles east of BenWheeler.

Newly formed VFW Post stays active
