Splash Day at Canton City Hall

davidb@vanzandtnews.com Benefitting 1,200 Canton ISD elementary and intermediate students with school supplies for the upcoming 2025-26 school year is the challenge that is currently facing a local organization. Lacye Welch, a Canton ISD parent and the founder of the ‘Stock the Classrooms’ project for Canton ISD was the guest speaker July 16 during the weekly Canton Lions Club Luncheon at Van Zandt Country Club as she discussed the work being done through the project. Welch is not an employee of Canton ISD.

The Van Zandt County Genealogical Society will have its regular monthly meeting at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26 at the VZC/Sarah Norman Library located at 317 First Monday Lane in Canton.

Republican Club of Van Zandt County President The Republican Club of Van Zandt County will have as our guest speaker, Van Zandt County Sheriff Kevin Bridger. Our meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

Once again, the Van Zandt County Historical Commission has been recognized for their outstanding work by the state as the Texas Historical Commission has named the VZC Historical Commission as the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award for 2024.
