TxDOT announces I-20 lane closures in VZC

The eastbound right lane of I-20 at Grand Saline Creek (east of mile marker 531) is closed for repairs to a sinkhole near the bridge slab, according to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). Work was expected to occur primarily during daylight hours; however, a nighttime closure could be necessary.

Temporary Restraining Order extended to July 24

According to Van Zandt County Criminal District Attorney Tonda Curry, the Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) against the developers of a lithium battery storage facility being built south of Canton has been extended through Thursday, July 24 by VZC District Judge Chris Martin of the 294th Judicial District.

Council members hear from two speakers during meeting

The Canton City Council convened for its regular monthly meeting on June 17 with a quorum present. The session began with an invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Mayor Lou Ann Everett-Berry, who expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent the city and to make wise decisions for its future.

City of Canton announces Fourth of July schedule

The City of Canton is preparing to host its annual Fourth of July celebration with a full day of activities planned for residents and visitors alike on Friday, July 4. The day-long event includes a patriotic parade, fun contests, live music, a classic car show, and will end with a crowd-favorite fireworks display.
