Eagles to second round after Sunnyvale sweep

The Canton Eagles made quick work of their first-round playoff matchup with Sunnyvale this past weekend, as they earned the series sweep on their way to a second round berth. Canton would open the series on Thursday night, sending Nathan Parker to the mound in hopes of grabbing the ever-commanding 1-0 series lead.

Eaglettes boatrace Pleasant Grove

The Canton Eaglettes earned a Regional Quarterfinals berth for the second consecutive season this weekend after two dominant wins over Pleasant Grove in the Area round. The Eaglettes would use their bats to bludgeon the Lady Hawks away in the series’ opener on Thursday night, as a slew of multi-run innings granted Canton the 17-6 blowout victory.

Eagles set for Sunnyvale in opening round

After securing a district championship last week, the Canton Eagles are set to swiftly move into postseason play, as their round one matchup against Sunnyvale is scheduled for Thursday, May 5 through Saturday, May 7.

Eaglettes move to Round 2

The top-seeded Canton Eaglettes made quick work in their first-round matchup with Ferris last week, downing the Lady Yellowjackets in two games to earn their spot in the second round of the playoffs. Game one of the series featured an early showing from Canton’s lineup, essentially wrapping up the victory within the first three frames.

Prox, Cade place first at Regionals

Track and field athletes from across Van Zandt County made their way to sites across East Texas April 28-29, competing at their respective Regional Meets for an opportunity to advance to State. Class 4A Region II Meet Athletes representing the county’s three largest school districts, Canton, Van and Wills Point, made their way to Texas A&M - Commerce April 28-29 to square off against the best 4A competitors from Region II.

Track team shines at Area Meet

Local track and field athletes that survived the gauntlet of this year’s District 16-4A Meet made their way to Wildcat Stadium in Paris April 20, squaring off against competitors from Athens, Brownsboro, Cumberland Academy, Pittsburg, Sulphur Springs, Texarkana Liberty-Eylau, Texarkana Pleasant Grove, Lindale, Mabank, Paris and Paris North Lamar for a shot to compete at the Regional Meet.
