Eagles stay alive for potential playoff berth

A dominating running game and an opportunistic defense were an unbeatable combination for the Canton Eagles Oct. 20 as they closed out their home season schedule with an impressive 34-20 victory over the Brownsboro Bears on ‘Senior Night’ at Norris Birdwell Stadium.

Eagles’ faint playoff hopes still alive

State playoff hopes in Class 4A, Division 2, took a serious blow on Friday the 13th for the Canton Eagles as they lost a heartbreaking 28-21 decision to the Bullard Panthers in Bullard. Coach Heath Ragle’s Eagles are now 2-6 overall and 0-4 in District 8-4A, Division 2, as they will need to win out in their final two district games of the season and hope to get some help from other teams in the district in order to have a chance to compete in post-season play as the fourth-place team in the district.

Eagles remain optimistic despite loss to Carthage

After falling to the top three teams so far in the District 8-4A, Division 2, standings, including a 50-0 home defeat Oct. 6 at the hands of the defending Class 4A, Division 2, state champion and current number-one ranked team in the state, the Carthage Bulldogs, Canton Eagle Head Football Coach Heath Ragle and his players are looking ahead to the final three district games on their schedule.
