PERFECT DAY IN THE OUTDOORS

Those of us that love spending time in the outdoors have learned that catching a big fish, bagging a trophy buck, shooting a limit of squirrels or capturing that perfect image on our camera doesn’t happen on every outing.

The Republican Women of Van Zandt County convened at the VZC/Sarah Norman Library in Canton April 14 for an evening filled with inspiration, prayer, and community engagement. The atmosphere was charged with positivity as members celebrated their party’s recent successes and looked forward to future endeavors.

Upper Sabine Cattleman’s Conference set for May 2

The Van Zandt County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will be sponsoring the Upper Sabine Cattleman’s Conference from 8 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Friday, May 2, at Gabriel Ranch, located at 8575 FM 1255 in Grand Saline. Registration will begin at 8 a.m.

National Day of Prayer program set for May 1

The 74th Annual National Day of Prayer program is scheduled for Thursday, May 1, in the Van Zandt County District Courtroom in the VZC Courthouse. The program, which is held each year on the first Thursday in May, will run from 12:15-12:45 p.m.

Sharon’s Place sets goal for East Texas Giving Day

Sharon’s Place, the organization serving special needs adults in Van Zandt County and surrounding counties, has set a goal of $10,000.00 in donations for East Texas Giving Day on Tuesday, April 29. “This is the second East Texas Giving Day that Sharon’s Place has participated in, and the success of last year’s giving really got the organization kick-started,” said Sharon’s Place Founder Kristine Tanzillo.

Purchase of Paul Michael building tabled by commissioners

‘Discuss and consider authorizing the County Judge to close the purchase of property at 1930 Trade Days Blvd, Canton, (Paul Michael building) and approve line-item transfer of necessary funds.’ After Reese read the agenda item, VZC Pct. 4 Brandon Barton immediately made the motion to table it.
