The Canton Lions Club hosted a celebration luncheon for their 2026 Canton High School Scholarship Recipients May 6 at the Van Zandt Country Club. What a pleasure meeting these young people who are completing their CHS years and have wonderful goals for furthering their education and aspirations for life paths.

The .410 shotgun: No longer a pea shooter

The modern-day eastern turkey restocking program that began back in 1979 has been successful in some areas and somewhat of a bust in others. In earlier days, pen raised domestic birds were introduced in the wild without success.

CHS LEO Club shares community involvement in their work

Officers representing the 2025-26 Canton High School LEO Club served as the guest speakers April 22 during the weekly Canton Lions Club Luncheon at the Van Zandt Country Club. Led by CHS Family and Consumer Science Teacher and Faculty Advisor Kim Burch, the club officers introduced themselves individually to those in attendance before discussing the work of the organization.

Texas Bank and Trust announced multiple officer promotions at its employee awards dinner held in Longview on March 17. Among those recognized were Lance Tate who was promoted to assistant vice president and commercial lender and Blake Waymire, promoted to banking officer, lending.
