Sharon’s Place, Van Zandt County’s new organization for adults with special needs, held its first art class recently with about 20 participants. Friends of Sharon’s Place who attended the class ranged in age from 20-50 years old.
In early June, Van Zandt County 4-H members and two recipients for Quilts of Valor gathered at the VZC Veterans Memorial gazebo in Canton for a presentation of the quilts for the veterans. The recipients were Robert Alan Jackson, U.S.

The AARP Driver Safety Program and the Van Zandt County/Sarah Norman Library located at 317 First Monday Lane in Canton are sponsoring a driver safety class on Thursday, June 20 from noon to 5 p.m. This course is designed for drivers 50 years of age and older primarily.

Another round of storms pummeled East Texas on June 3. In addition to 10s of thousands of power and internet outages, many are reporting downed trees, various types of structural damage, flooding, and tree limbs and debris have been strewn across East Texas roads and properties.
