Stapleton shares numerous stories during presentation

With the aid of his ‘therapy duck,’ Van Zandt County Northeast Texas Game Warden Captain Steve Stapleton shared some memorable stories about his involvement in previous investigations as he was the guest speaker April 30 during the Canton Lions Club Weekly Luncheon. Former Texas Ranger shares history, stories about agency

Former Texas Ranger and current Van Zandt County resident Kenny Ray discussed the history of the Texas Rangers law enforcement agency and shared a few humorous stories that took place during his service. Ray was the guest speaker March 19 during the weekly Canton Lions Club Luncheon which was held at a new location, Bean and Burger.

On March 10, the regular monthly meeting of the Republican Women of Van Zandt County convened with a robust turnout and an agenda filled with important discussions and insights. Club members were treated to a wealth of information regarding property taxes, local governance, and community engagement.

‘Employees of the Month’ recognized by board members

The Canton Independent School District (CISD) held its monthly school board meeting on March 17, 2025, featuring inspiring presentations from students and recognizing outstanding staff contributions. The meeting commenced with a heartfelt invocation led by Hallie Tarno, a second- grade student from Canton Elementary School, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance recited by her classmate, Griffin Beverly.

The Van Zandt County/Sarah Norman Library, located at 317 First Monday Lane (FM 859) in Canton, has released its Spring Break schedule for the time period of March 11-21 for all Van Zandt County school district schedules and it will be as follows: Tuesday, March 11, and Tuesday, March 18: Garden Day, noon to 5 p.m. Making Recycled Bottle Planters and Seed Bombs. Walk in anytime between noon and 4:30 p.m. All ages are welcome. Wednesday, March 12, and Wednesday, March 19: Game Day, noon to 5 p.m. Board games, Wii games, X-box games, legos, and outdoor games, weather permitting. Walk in anytime between noon and 4:30 p.m.
