No-cost meal sites to open across Texas

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller today announced that no-cost meal sites will open across Texas when schools close for summer. The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) administers the Summer Meal Programs in Texas and partners with nonprofit organizations to provide these meals for children 18 and younger and enrolled students with disabilities up to age 21 in low-income areas.

Canton resident to compete in pageant July 14-15

Six-year old Kayleigh Hammack, daughter of Ron and Ley Hammack, qualified as a State Finalist in the National American Miss Texas Pageant to be held at the Westin Gallerian in Dallas July 14-15. The pageant is held for girls ages four to 24 in six different age divisions.

Historic rifle is latest BFTS Museum program topic

A rifle that has played a role in multiple wars for more than 100 years will be the topic of a Power Point program - The Mosin Nagant Rifle: An Introduction - presented by BFTS Museum Executive Director Patrick Hotard on Thursday April 20 at 7 pm at 119 Silent Wings Blvd. in Terrell. The discussion is free and open to the public.
