The Canton Eagles’ hopes to win their fifth consecutive district championship in boys’ basketball were dashed at the hands of the Mabank Panthers Feb. 13 in Mabank, 54-42.

The Canton Eaglettes began their run to a potential Class 4A state championship by winning two playoff games convincingly last week and advancing to the Class 4A Regional Quarterfinals. Canton faced Paris North Lamar on Feb.
