The Canton Eagle boys’ junior varsity basketball team won two out of three games in the Mabank Freshmen/Junior Varsity Tournament played Nov. 30, Dec.

The Canton Eagle freshmen boys’ basketball team outlasted Van, 55-22, to capture first place in the Mabank Freshmen Tournament Dec. 2.

The Canton Eagles varsity boys’ basketball team improved their early season record to 2-1 with a 48-39 non-district victory over the Rains Wildcats Nov. 17 in Emory.

In a battle of Van Zandt County rivals Nov. 14 in Canton, the Canton Eagles (white uniform) outlasted the Grand Saline Indians, 67-46. The Eagles defeated Rains, 48-39, Nov. 17 to improve their early season record to 2-1 as they traveled to Kaufman Nov. 20 and hosted West Mesquite Nov. 21. Following their Thanksgiving holiday break, the Eagles will return to action Nov. 28 at Commerce before entering the Mesquite Tournament Nov. 30, Dec. 1, and Dec. 2. Story on page 9A.
