Body In what would be their final game of the 2022 season, Canton stunned Rusk in a battle of the Eagles this past Thursday.

Body Van Zandt County was well represented at the UIL State Cross Country Meet last week with a 11 runners, including representatives from Canton, Martins Mill, Van and Wills Point, competing against the state’s best.

Body As the calendar flips to November and the regular season comes to a halting close, Canton will be on the outside looking in on the playoffs, after an up-and-down season has resulted in a 3-6 record with one game remaining.

Body Coach Autumn Loyd and the Canton Eaglette volleyball team made history last week, following up a district clinching win over Brownsboro by completing the program’s first-ever perfect run through district with a win over rival Van Oct. 24.

Body The Canton Eagles placed themselves back in the winning column for the first time since Sept. 16, with a resounding 3015 win over district foe Brownsboro last Friday night.

Body Canton Eaglette players and coaches were not shy about their goals entering the 2022 season, putting a district title near the top of their lists.

Body The Running Eagles ran at the Region II meet on Monday, October 24 in windy and rainy conditions. The girls team captured fourth place and a chance to compete at the Class 4A State Meet in Round Rock Nov.

Body The Bullard Panthers played spoiler to Canton’s homecoming on Friday night, as an attempted comeback bid by the Eagles fell short, marking their fourth straight defeat, by a score of 29-21.

Body The Canton Eaglettes have been virtually automatic on the volleyball court during the 2022 season, entering last week with a sterling 25-7 record overall with their only losses coming to currently state-ranked teams.

Body The Canton Running Eagles hosted the District 16-4A Cross Country Meet Oct. 11, finishing first overall in the varsity girls division and second in the varsity boys division.
