The Canton Eaglettes seek a longer playoff run after getting a taste in the 2023 season. Canton finished the 2023 regular season with an impressive 27-13 overall record and a 9-4 district record, good enough for a third-place finish to clinch a playoff berth.

The Canton High School Running Eagles Cross Country teams competed at the Tyler Legacy Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 24.

Since the news came down in July that senior three-year starting quarterback Nathan Parker would miss the entire 2024 varsity football season with an injury suffered in summer league baseball, Canton Eagle Head Coach Heath Ragle and his staff have been evaluating potential starters for the quarterback position.

One more pre-season scrimmage remains before the games start to count Aug. 30 as the Canton Eagles will host the Mineola Yellowjackets in their final ‘tune-up’ starting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday (today) at Norris Birdwell Stadium.

The 2024 high school football season in Van Zandt County means the return of ‘The Huddle Show’ on Canton radio station KWJB (95.1 FM, ‘The Bee’) beginning Tuesday, Aug. 27.

Mineola radio station KMOO (99.9 FM) has announced that the 2024 football season premiere of ‘The Locker Room Show’ will be Monday, Aug. 26, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The Canton Eaglettes varsity volleyball team have started their 2024 regular season with a 4-4 record.

With the 2024-25 school year underway, preparations for the varsity football and volleyball seasons at Canton High School are continuing. The Canton Eagle varsity football team will be scrimmaging at Kaufman Friday, Aug.
