In a battle of Van Zandt County rivals Nov. 14, the Canton Eagles ran past the Grand Saline Indians, 67-46, in Canton.

It was a difficult opening game loss at home for the Canton Eagle varsity basketball team Nov. 11 as they dropped a two-point decision to Sulphur Springs, 51-49.

The Canton Running Eagles concluded their cross-country season at the State Meet in Round Rock Nov. 4.

Rallying from deficits of 13-0 at halftime and 21-7 in the second half fell short at the end Nov. 3 for the Canton Eagles as they saw their 2023 varsity football season come to a close on the road against the Rusk Eagles, 21-13.

It has come down to a onegame season for the Canton Eagle varsity football team as they will travel to Rusk Friday, Nov. 3 for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff against the Rusk Eagles in the final regular season and District 8-4A, Division 2, game for both squads.

The Canton Eaglettes began their run for the Class 4A state volleyball championship Oct. 31 against Paris North Lamar at Rains High School but results were not available at press time.

A dominating running game and an opportunistic defense were an unbeatable combination for the Canton Eagles Oct. 20 as they closed out their home season schedule with an impressive 34-20 victory over the Brownsboro Bears on ‘Senior Night’ at Norris Birdwell Stadium.

A total of 19 seniors on the Canton Eagle varsity football team will always remember their final performance at Norris Birdwell Stadium Oct. 20 as they led their squad to an important 34-20 victory over the Brownsboro Bears in District 8-4A, Division 2, play.

State playoff hopes in Class 4A, Division 2, took a serious blow on Friday the 13th for the Canton Eagles as they lost a heartbreaking 28-21 decision to the Bullard Panthers in Bullard. Coach Heath Ragle’s Eagles are now 2-6 overall and 0-4 in District 8-4A, Division 2, as they will need to win out in their final two district games of the season and hope to get some help from other teams in the district in order to have a chance to compete in post-season play as the fourth-place team in the district.

The Canton Eaglettes varsity volleyball team continued their strong district play with victories over Athens and Mabank. Against Athens Oct.
