Stolen vehicle report leads to arrest of wanted felon

A wanted felon was stopped by Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Department patrol deputies resulting in additional charges being filed, according to VZC Sheriff’s Department Captain Pete O’Reilly. Deputy Juan Cortez took a stolen vehicle report on March 10.

Thompson, along with her two of her students, Chris and Jacob, were on hand to announce that the Canton ISD Special Olympics Team will be hosting their 10th Annual Special Olympics Meet April 2 at Canton High School’s Norris Birdwell Stadium starting with the Parade of Athletes at 10 a.m.

Woman arrested in Rolling Oaks arson investigation

An arson investigation in the Rolling Oaks community has led to the arrest of a woman, according to Van Zandt County Fire Marshal Kevin Palmer. Palmer said that a firefighter was dispatched to the Rolling Oaks area for a structure fire on Feb.

Canton ISD releases letter following bus accident

Canton ISD released a letter from Canton ISD Superintendent Brian Nichols that was sent to parents following a March 5 accident involving a school district bus. “We want to inform you of an incident involving one of our school buses that occurred earlier today (March 5) on Highway 64,” said Nichols in the letter.
